My addition - large groups - Mass Haste (extended) and Mind Blank (extended). Others I would add, crowd control spells - Slow, Confusion, Grease, Stinking Cloud, Cloud of Bewilderment.

To agree and expand on what was said by DYK and Vaeltava, it's important to know the right situation for the right spell and to pull punches in groups until you find the spell is absolutely necessary to toss, especially in long dungeons or DM events. Let the front liners do their heavy lifting and toss artillery, support or control as needed. Sorcs can arguably toss whenever, but even then, long dungeons/DM events can see them limiting spell use on the occasion, although far less often.
