Randomly decided to check in after years and see talk of Doordie and Amel. Lots of fun memories! Arguably my first long time character, Narwyn, ended up closely aligned with Amel as his protege.
Doordie was one of the best RP's I ever played with. His stories, with his character Amel, were amazing. Rich, deep, complex. I hope Doordie is doing well! You have a really great Uncle!

Is there a master list of items readily available for purchase? Any details as to descriptions, effects, and location?
I am finding that I keep aquiring many of the same items for some characters, and am trying to locate some possible options. Then for my trial characters (eg; Casters, crafter), I am not as versed at the optional gear and where they are located.
For instance, I did notice one set of armor that had a WIS bonus, and my Divine caster is interested. However, I do not know if this is the only WIS bonus armor available. As armor may be one of the stable items that remains in shifting, I am interested in this effect as well as concerned of encumberance.

It's kind of a FOIG thing, I'd say. An OOC list wouldn't hurt, but you'd have to keep yourself from using that knowledge IG.
If you meant some list IG, I'm almost certain you won't find it. As Talla said, some characters are merchants and keep records of location/cost/description of items.

It can also be fun, when developing a new character, to find items that you previously never really looked for (You wouldn't have likely looked for full plate if you were playing a wizard, for example).
Of course, when a couple of new items are put in somewhere in the world and you're curious what they are while not wanting to visit every shop, that kind of sucks...but I guess there are pros and cons.

Cal's done a full sweep of stores once or twice, looking for specific types of items. I don't know, if you do it -with- other people, it can be fun, despite the walk and talk difficulties presented by the NWN interface.
But no, he doesn't have a list, he never bothered making one

Maybe meet up in game with one of the many pack rat characters obsessed with toys and shinies who you'll find wandering about *cough* Isilme *cough* and get them talking about one of their favorite subjects.

I believe IG, at least one Player was attempting to make such a list, but this was left unfinished due to a lack of interest. OOG, such a list would help planning shopping quests.
A good many of my characters have UMD, and utilize a lot of possible gear. That said, the 'warriors' all have pretty much the same general kits with some minor changes.
But my more unique characters may take up the offer to ask someone, as they have an idea of what they wish, but lack the ability to look for themselves.

The idea of a character who keeps a Thain-wide merchant database is kind of neat, actually. It'd also provide for some RP incentive to every once and a while trek to the far reaches of the island to check a merchant's stock and see if there's anything new.

I think, the large issue to why this project could have been scrapped in the past, is due to the constant evolving and changing of the server as a whole, and with it, the inventories that exist. Also, not all merchants are exactly people who advertise they exist, and only are there to help out those who may have 'lost' their way. (I would state examples, but that would be telling. )
For the merchants who are commonly accessible, this would be a good thing, but someone would have to update this list, every time an item got added, and who would really want to spend all that time doing that?
