@TheSaltyDemon, Yes I definately remember Doordie! Amel was one of the best rp'ed/complex characters on the server. Love that guy!

Absolutely remember him! Amel was a beast, he was one of the best rp'd villains of all time. How is he?

Do you read character descriptions? I'm a little curious as to how many of the people on this server read other people's character descriptions on a regular basis.

I said yes, but I'll qualify that by saying that the frequency of my interactions with a PC will often dictate how much of the description I will read.

If you put three or four paragraphs in there, I'm probably not going to read it all, unless I'm interacting with that PC fairly often.

I read them. I find they usually give a good idea of the player's writing style. Descriptions that are four paragraphs about a character's haunting blue eyes and flawless skin also make an excellent warning label.

I read them all. I enjoy a good many of them. That does not mean that I take all I read there IC... if its something thats written but never RP'd, I tend to ignore it. I also ignore the lines about how flawless the skin, muscles, and beauty of your character are. [ Edited 05:53:44 AM 11/08/08 ]

If the PC's description is short and to the point. "This tall, this color skin, these items on belt, etc." I love reading it. smile
I love getting some mental image of the person (or thing?) I'm talking to.

But when there's a long list of things: past, intimate descriptions of how each hair is combed just slightly to the left, blah blah blah. Well that just ruins it for me because it's not an actual description, it's a novel!

So baam! You've just been Felix-ed. shades

I read them, yes. For much the same reasons as the rest. They give an impression of the character's appearance, and of the player's writing style.

I read them smile Because let's face it there are only so many variations of heads and hair colors you can use. I NEED descriptions to tell one red headed character from another * Red seems to be a popular hair color * tongue in beauty and quality. To tell Riggs from Slaith if you meet them for the first time! Just cause they wear different outfits - graphics wise they kinda look the same!! So I always feel like descrips are nice to have... unless you have an incredibly accurate portrait. Then I will bypass the descrip and just oogle and or focus on that as the metal image of what your character is smile MM [ Edited 08:41:21 AM 11/08/08 ]

Yes I like to read them because it should show or detail the person's appearance, perhaps their traits or some quirks. (Eg, its obvious by accent and appearance they are of x people)

I don't like the silly ones that just say things like RP or bang on about buffs, I tend to think these ones aren't really there for the RP. The description is not there for a life story. It is just a description so others can better visualise and understand your character.
