With Thain, I don't think it is a matter of opinion that rewarding players leads to some players crying favoritism: it's established fact.
When the system for rewards are based on human judgement of abstract principles, inevitably people will disagree as to what those principles should be in practice. A subset of those people will believe that not only is their vision not shared, but the rewards are being distributed unfairly or even with bias against them. I've occasionally wondered if Thain should do away with Epic tokens, as it seems to create expectations among those prone towards malcontentism, but then I think that those same people will find something else to be upset about if it isn't Epic tokens (or whatever the flavor of disconent-of-the-day is).
I think the only way to minimize those feelings is just to be as transparent as possible (which is difficult in an environment of many possible spoilers...) and to listen to people with a thick skin

Yep - we try our best to make it clear exactly what we look to reward - hopefully the staff responses on this thread help that end as well. And as always we are open to further communication for more clarificatons
